It’s been a hell of a run

Tuesday, May 25th, 2010

Blogs.4Bauer.com - It's been a hell of a runI’m sure the other contributors at B4B will be throwing their thoughts out for you, but let me be the first to say how much I’ve enjoyed the time I’ve been blogging here. I was honored to be invited to join the group several seasons ago, and to say that it has been an enjoyable time would be a gross understatement. As much as I loved the show, the ability to come by here and lay out my thoughts or read what others have written has outpaced the enjoyment of the show at times. I have particularly enjoyed the comments from our faithful readers. You have contributed as much to this effort as any of us. To all of the readers let me say “Thank you!”

I don’t know what will happen here. We haven’t really discussed it. I suspect it will go, like Jack Bauer, in to retirement. Whatever happens, thanks again for coming along for the ride.

BREAKING: There Will Be a Season 9

Thursday, April 1st, 2010

BREAKING NEWS: I got wind of this the other day, and was able to track down confirmation. There will be a Season 9 of 24!

Jack Bauer fans rejoice! There will be no silent clock for 24 at the end of the current season.

Original creators Joel Surnow and Robert Cochran have convinced Sutherland and many of the current cast to return for “at least one more season,” by promising their renewed involvement.

“We realize that our loyal fans have been somewhat dissatisfied with the direction the show has taken over the past seasons,” Surnow says, “and none of us want things to end on a low note.”

Keifer Sutherland spoke on the set during the filming of the last hours of the current season, saying, “This show has been terrific ride and Jack Bauer has been an amazing character to play. Originally, I was reluctant to continue, but after reading an outline of what Bob and Joel have in mind for season 9, I’m convinced that we can continue.”

As usual, there is tight security concerning the new plot line. However, citing the need to convince fans, Surnow did offer a teasing look at what is planned.

“Being accused of recycling plot lines and succumbing to political correctness made us realize that we would have to really push the envelope if we wanted to continue. I won’t offer details, but I will say that the new season places Jack and Agent Walker in the middle of a situation that will take them closer to the edge then they have ever been.”

There’s more at the source.

Jack Bauer Kill Counter 3.5 (Season 8) 10pm-11pm

Monday, February 8th, 2010

Here’s the post for tonight’s JBKC3.5 10pm-10pm. Enter your best guess in the comments. We sort of lost track of who had what in the first 56 hours because Arlo got his hands on the database we’re a bunch of slackers with the attention span of a typical CTU red shirt. We’ll have Chloe rebuild things shortly when Dana gets her hand out of her lap.

Since last season’s kill counter worked after a fashion, we’ll be running it again with only one modification since there will be a lot of Kim Bauer mentions. It will be a points based system that awards Jack Bauer points for doing good things like killing someone and negative points for doing bad things like saying “I’m sorry”.

Each week we will ask you to submit how many points you think Jack will get, the person closest wins. Submit how many points Jack Bauer will rack up in tonight’s episodes in the comments – we will publish the winner on Tuesday (1/26).

Here is the preliminary list of points. We may remove and/or add to this list as the season progresses, so send us any suggestions you may have.

24: Season 8: 10 pm to 11 pm

Monday, February 8th, 2010

According to the note I wrote on my hand, it’s almost time for tonight’s live blog. We’ll crank things up around 8:30 eastern. Get your guess into tonight’s Kill Counter.

Who are you working for?

Wednesday, January 27th, 2010

Jack Bauer and Future HamburgerHaven’t people learned by now that it’s not smart to fool with Jack? Granted, Keifer, not so much.

Prosecutors say Michael Wayne Carr of Linden had agreements to buy steers in Mexico for his customers and sell them for profit in the United States. Carr allegedly took $869,000 from Sutherland, star of the Fox TV show “24,” and $177,000 from a New Mexico couple.

This may just be a publicity stunt to give us a glimpse at the rest of Season 8. It turns out that the Russians are really working for Mexican cattle rustlers.

The upside is that after the interrogation — steak for everyone!

Comments Please

Monday, January 11th, 2010

Between Zombie Edgar’s death, Chloe’s baby, and this whole move from LA to NY, well, things have gotten a little lax in the B4B bunker/pool hall. Some mole opened a socket on our settings and checked the “Users must be registered and logged in to comment” box. At the same time that marvelous bastard left the “Anyone can register” box unchecked!

What that means is, if you’ve tried posting a comment here lately you’ve been as lucky as a Red-shirt at the CTU Christmas party — stuck in the corner with the other expendables and not a chance in hell of gettin’ you any.

The good news is that Chloe dropped Morris’ spawn off at Mommies Morning Out and fixed everything while waiting in line at Starbucks.

So leave some comments. Season 8 is only a week away.

WordPress 2.9 and a new theme

Saturday, December 19th, 2009

Just a quick interruption to say that Blogs.4Bauer.com has been updated to WordPress 2.9 and we’ve changed to a new theme. With that said, the new theme really needs a new banner image. Someone point me to some Season 8 images.

Is It The End?

Saturday, August 15th, 2009

Could this be the end? TV Week says, SHOCKER: Fox Entertainment President Says This Season of ’24′ Could Be Its Last

Kevin Reilly, Fox Entertainment President, said that the upcoming season of “24” might be its last.

[...]

“We haven’t made any decision whether it’s back or not [after this upcoming season],” says Reilly. “The producers are passionate, Kiefer is passionate and we don’t have any of them looking to jump ship. It’s a show we’re really proud of. It’s going to come down to a business decision. It’s not an inexpensive show on the network books and we also want to finish strong. This is not a show we want to prop up. It will be a whole creative and business discussion and something we’ll have to deal with over the next few months.”

Thoughts?
