24 – Season 7 trailer

YouTube Preview Image

The TV premiere of the 24 – Season 7 trailer is on Fox tonight during the 7th inning of the World Series. Not to spoil it, but the Red Sox will be up 11 – 2 with home runs from Manny, Big Papi, and possibly even JD Drew. Ok, so maybe not Drew.

You can also go to Times Square around 1pm today and watch it in the rain. Or you can just watch the trailer now.

Jack Bauer brings torture back, check.
There’s a shooter on the roof, check!
Mole in the FBI, check.
Tony’s back, check.
Tony’s a bad guy who wants to crash airplanes. What?

I have an issue with Tony’s new favorite hobby, crashing airliners. John McClane called, he wants the Die Hard 2 plot back. If they are going to steal a Die Hard plot, at least steal from one of the good ones. Someone get me Samuel L. Jackson and some snarky German terrorists for Jack Bauer to take down while performing asinine tasks and riddles?

Hot Agent: Do whatever it takes, torture him if you have to.
Bauer: I’m going to enjoy this.

So, what do you think? I remember the explosive Season 6 trailer looked pretty cool as well.

Ok, first off, Tony looks badass! Secondly, I have a feeling the Die Hard 2 plot will go away come episode 6 or 8. Always happens.

As for Tony being the bad guy, think about it. It makes perfect sense. Wife is dead, friends are dead, government responsible in some way (think Logan, people)… makes perfect sense and could be really good. You’ve got built in conflict. Since when has Jack ever had to think hard about killing the bad guy?

  2. Jack Bauer says:

So who’s the organization behind Tony? Are they bringing back RoboCop?

  3. AmyV says:

Wow. It really does look good. But you’re right, we’ve been fooled before. The one thing that annoyed me was — another freakin’ mole?

  4. David says:

Disappointed Tony is the villian, but the trailer looks great. However, after last season I expect to be disappointed. We likely just saw the highlights of the first 4 episodes, and then Tony will either really die or go away for 18 hours and then come back into the plot at the end.

  5. Todd says:

I know everyone is disappointed that Tony is the bad guy. I was too, because, hell, besides Jack (and of course the cougar) he is the best character on the show. However, look at it from a purely story-telling aspect: former good guy turns bad, has good reasons for turning bad, and his best friend has to hunt him down (and possibly kill him).

It makes perfect sense in that aspect. We all love this show, and even on its bad “days” it’s still better than 95% of the other drivel that’s on TV. I say we give them the benefit of the doubt until it starts to suck. Then I’ll be the first to jump on the “this season blows, let’s kill the writers” bandwagon.

  6. Jack Bauer says:

I don’t think Jack will kill Tony. Well…he did kill Curtis last season…as well as Dave Chappelle. He cut off Chase’s hand. Nevermind, Jack will kill Tony.

  7. Justin says:

Was the hot FBI agent Garofalo? If so, hust hearing her say that was enough for me.

  8. SimplyKimberly says:

I am going to find it really damn hard to root for Jack Bauer this season because Tony is rocking the bad boy thing so damn hard. For the first time ever, if Soul Patch is the true big bad, I am going to be hoping Jack loses.

  9. Ched says:

Regardless of mixed emotions about Tony being the bad guy, he’s sure to be a really good bad guy.

Was anybody else curious about the “Meanwhile back at the farm” shot of Chloe? I hope she isn’t just a guest star for the first few episodes.

  10. AmyV says:

No, Chloe’s supposed to be a regular this season. And so’s Bill B.

  11. Todd says:

Justin, Google is a wonderful tool to answer your “was the hot FBI agent Garofalo” question. You will see pictures of the official “worst casting decision ever made” and see she is anything but hot. She is to hot what Antartica is to “slam packed rush hour traffic”.
